Daylight and sunlight: site layout planning

Article Abstract:

BRE's 'Site layout planning for daylight and sunlight' guide is the first of three to give advice to architects on making best use of daylight. The BRE publication deals with skylight and sunlight on the outer faces of buildings and on the ground, and also gives guidelines for solar design. The guidelines for skylight are based on the concept of ground-floor windows in a new building having sufficient exposure to the sky, while guidelines for passive solar design are restricted to orientation and overshadowing.
