Death, where is thy sting?

Article Abstract:

Bankruptcy can involve few changes for South Korean firms, with management unchanged, debt payments frozen, and new loans permitted. Rulings are made in line with creditor banks' agreements, and the banks often agree to profit estimates that are unrealistic, and reorganizations that are not sound. Companies cannot be shut down for 10 years unless creditor banks agree. The banking industry could be hit by the bad debt problem that could arise from a scheme which allows preferntial treatment for some companies with financial problems.
