Exposing vulnerability may have given rise to Code Red worm

Article Abstract:

The Code Red worm, which infected Microsoft Corp. software designed for servers on July 19, is an example of the possible dangers ahead as computer hackers become more skilled. In this case, eEye Digital Security discovered a weakness in the software and notified Microsoft, who released a patch to cover the weakness, but not before a hacker was able to write and release the code which resulted in the Code Red worm.
