Denmark: Danish exports to Sweden on the rise

Article Abstract:

The Danish share of Swedish imports climbed to a record high 8.2% in the first half of 2001. This means that Denmark ranks fourth among the countries from which Sweden imports most. Danish exports to Sweden reported a bigger growth in 1999-2000 than did Swedish imports to Denmark - a trend that has strengthened further despite the weak Swedish krona and the ensuing fall in consumer confidence in Sweden. The greater part of the Danish export success is ascribed to oil exports, that accounted for 50% of the Danish exports of DKr12bn (US$1.4bn) to Sweden. Apart from oil, Denmark exports food products, pharmaceuticals, clothes, furniture, shoes, components and semi-manufactured articles to Sweden. Machinery and equipment to the industry constitute the biggest Danish export articles to Sweden. These exports generated DKr13.3bn, that accounts for a fourth of combined Danish exports.

DENMARK: DANISH FURNITURE EXPORTS UP 8%

Article Abstract:

Danish furniture exports have increased by 8% in the first half of 2001 compared with the same period in 2000 despite the economic downturn in Germany and the USA, which are major export markets for Danish furniture. This is more than anticipated by Keld Korsager, head of the Association of Danish Furniture Industries. He says the falling exports to Germany and the USA will be offset by growing exports to other markets such as England, Sweden, France, Holland and Japan. He anticipates a total growth of five to six per cent for the whole of 2001.

DENMARK: EXPORTS TO RUSSIA UP 40%

Article Abstract:

Danish exports to Russia rose 40% to DKr4bn in 2000. Danish exports to Russia are expected to pass the DKr5bn this year. In 1997, exports to Russia showed a record at DKr6bn. It is luxury goods such as B&O equipment, Ecco shoes and Danish furniture and furs that are in great demand in Russia, not machinery and industrial equipment. Steven Forster of the Danish embassy in Moscow says those Danish companies that are active on the Russian market are doing very well.
