Denmark: Oresund companies join in a marketing drive

Article Abstract:

Invest in Denmark, Invest in Sweden, Copenhagen Capacity and Region Skane have joined forces to market the Oresund region as the centre for advanced food industry in northern Europe. The region offers high-quality food research and competence in high-technology food products including packaging. Accordingly, the companies will focus on ready meals, functional foods and organic products in their marketing efforts. The companies will target food companies in both Japan, USA and Europe. Copenhagen Capacity MD Rolf O. Larssen believes the Oresund region can become a test area for new food products as both Denmark and Sweden are known for their critical attitudes towards food products. The Oresund region project members are to co-operate with Oresund Food Network, which is expected to create a hot-bed for new research projects, which in turn can encourage new and innovative food operations. This is the first time Danish and Swedish organisations that wish to attract foreign investment join forces to achieve their goals.

Denmark: GMO guarantee results in higher food prices

Article Abstract:

The GMO guarantee, according to which all organic foods should be free from GMO substances, will result in higher prices of organic eggs, milk and meat products, according to Danish companies that sell fodder, fertilisers and seeds. The Danish Plant Directorate is calling for the fodder business to speed up the establishment of a GMO-free production of fodder containing the raw materials rape seed, soy and maize. DLG, the biggest fodder-producing company in Denmark, says it is prepared to establish a new plant for the production of organic fodder in order to avoid contamination from a plant making conventional fodder.

US: DANISH COMPANIES TO PROMOTE ECOLOGICAL FOOD

Article Abstract:

This week Danish food producers will start a campaign in three steps to promote ecological food products on the US and Canadian markets. The fist step in this campaign is the Fancy Food exhibition in New York where 11 Danish companies will present their produce. Visitors at the exhibition are primarily wholesalers, catering companies and importers. The second step of the campaign will take place on the Danish embassies, in the US and Canada. The third step will be to invite companies to Danish ecological companies in September this year.
