Denmark: PFA sale still uncertain

Article Abstract:

The Danish pension company PFA, which is looking for new owners, is having difficulties finding potential buyers. At the moment, only Nykredit and Sampo are still interested. On a closed meeting on Monday 19 November, the PFA management presumably made clear that the prospects of experiencing a successful sale of the company are not too good. The chairman of PFA, Svend Askar, does not want to comment the meeting, but confirms that there are several unsolved issues. According to information given to the newspaper, PFA is fearing that the sale will not work out, and the management is therefore working on a solution for an independent PFA.

Denmark: PFA in serious trouble

Article Abstract:

The downturn on the stock market has sent PFA Pension into its worst financial crisis hitherto. The company's reserves are almost gone and its independence is seriously threatened. If the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, Finanstilsynet, refuses to approve PFA's accounts, the company will have to be put up for sale. Borsen mentions Skandia as a possible buyer. Birgitta Hammarstrom, head of public relations, says that Skandia never comments on rumours. She does, however, point out that Skandia intends to grow by its own force.
