Asian markets stay costly

The price-to-earnings ratios in Asia are examined and data is provided for the months of January and October, 2001. Though Asian markets may seems cheap due to the sharp falls in prices, stocks are actually more expensive on a price-to-earnings outlook, especially in the fields of telecommunications, technology, airlines and transportation.

Japanese market is mixed; investors are cautious before Central Bank news

News on the movement of prices in 10 major stock markets in Asia is provided with highlights of the week's trading discussed. Bangkok was the best performing market at the end of the week, with Seoul, Hong Kong and Wellington stocks also keeping their upward momentum. Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Tokyo were cautious, while the markets in Manila, Jakarta and Sydney were mixed. Wall Street gains during the week helped fuel the largely bullish sentiment in Asia's main markets.
