Design and implementation of a group DSS for sustaining renewable energies exploitation

Article Abstract:

A Group Decision Support Systems (DSS) was created to assist computational task and enhance decision making in energy planning. The Group DSS, which is based on popular approaches of system analysis and decision-aid, acts as a tool towards attaining consensus related to large scale exploitation of renewable energy sources (RES). Implementation of the method to real decision situation involving creation of an operational plan for RES exploitation in Greece showed that it can be a helpful learning process for all the actors involved in energy planning.

EU may raise emissions costs: rule change would end free pollution permits; complications for trade

Article Abstract:

The European Union has proposed tighter caps on greenhouse gas emissions, and will allow governments to begin charging for pollution permits given to companies. If the proposals are approved, they would not be implemented until 2013; however, European industries are expected to oppose them as they expect the proposals to add to costs.
