Deutsche Post, Exel are in talks on deal valued at $6.4 billion

Exel PLC of the United Kingdom is in negotiations to acquire Deutsche Post AG, that could see the logistics company valued at 3.5 billion Pounds ($6.4 billion). Exel PLC shares rose 17 percent to 11.79 Pounds on the London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Post AG shares fell 3.9 percent to 19.65 Euros on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

EU questions Italy's bid to block merger of Autostrade, Abertis

Article Abstract:

The blockage of the proposed merger between Abertis Infraestructuras S.A. of Spain and Concessioni e Construzioni Autostrade S.p.A. of Italy by the Italian government is being questioned by the European Union. The European Union is expecting an antitrust clearance for the merger.

Autostrade, Abertis halt merger plans -- for now: toll-road deal faced hurdles set by Rome; EU's efforts stymied?

Article Abstract:

The proposed merger of Abertis Infraestructuras S.A. and Concessioni e Construzioni Autostrade S.p.A. has been called off for now . The companies hope to proceed with the merger, which would have created the world's biggest toll-road operator, sometime in the future.
