Disney tops forecast for period

Walt Disney Co. posted higher-than-expected results for its continuing operations for the quarter ending March 31, 2001. The company, which did post a $548 million loss for the period, posted $391 million in quarterly income, compared with $294 million during the same 2000 period.

Disney nearly tripled its net for fiscal fourth quarter

Walt Disney Co. posted its fiscal fourth-quarter profit, which almost tripled, due to continued success at its broadcasting networks. Net income amounted to $240 million (Euro280.4 million) for the fourth quarter ended 9/30/00, versus $85 million a year earlier.
