Domodedovo builds for international traffic

Article Abstract:

A German consortium, which is composed of ABB, Lahmeyer International and Hochtief, has won a planning and design deal for the first phase of a new international passenger terminal at the Domodedovo Airport in Moscow, Russia. The deal calls for overall design, master planning, ground traffic infrastructure, ancillary facilities and preparation of tender papers for the new terminal facility. The total investment for the project is estimated at DM150 million, or $85 million. The accelerated program includes tenders for the first construction phase, which should be finished in the third quarter of 1998, with opening slated for late 1999.

Reclamation license gives Chubu go-ahead

Article Abstract:

The prefectural government of Aichi, Japan, has given its approval for the construction of a new offshore Chubu International Airport in Central Japan. The approval allows the airport contractor, Central Japan International Airport Co, to proceed with reclamation work in Ise Bay off Tokoname City. The airport would measure 4.7 million sq m in size when finished by Mar 2005. It will have a 3.5-km single runway, an apron area of 1.1 million sq m and 9 km of taxiways.

Domodedovo inaugurates new terminal

Article Abstract:

The rebuilt terminal of Domodedovo airport was opened on Dec 8, 2000, by the governor of Russia's Moscow region. The airport currently serves routes to the countries of the former Soviet Union, with just one service to the Chinese city of Macau. With the new terminal, Domodedovo hopes to attract western airlines to offer flights from and to the airport, initially as an alternative to the Sheremetyevo airport.
