Dynamic facility location when the total number of facilities is uncertain: a decision analysis approach

Article Abstract:

Two approaches for assessing the problem on the number of facilities uncertain (NOFUN), a type of dynamic location problems, emphasizing on incidents where the total number of facilities to be located in uncertain. The NOFUN problem is analyzed by two decision criteria namely, the minimization of expected opportunity loss, and the minimization of maximum regret. These standards presume a limited number of decision alternatives and a finite number of possible conditions of nature.

Article Abstract:

The 12th European Summer Institute held in Tenerige, Spain in June 1995 tackled various issues on Locational Analysis, its future trends and developments. Participants also discussed the modeling aspects of discrete Location Theory, the influence of the distance function, the connection between discrete, network and continuous location, heuristic techniques, the state of technology and undesirable facility location.
