The United Kingdom Financial Services Authority warned that the banking industry needs to strengthen operations and increase risk controls in an ever expanding credit derivatives market. United Kingdom regulators are concerned that derivatives trades are taking too long to process.

Growing disparity between bond yields in the 15 euro-currency nations is complicating the European Central Bank's attempts to alleviate the slowing economy. Bond-yield differences between countries with larger, stronger economies and those with smaller economies are examined.
