EMPIRE SIGNS MoU WITH RADISSON HOTELS

Article Abstract:

Radisson Hotels Worldwide (RHW) of USA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Empire Hotels & Resorts Ltd (EHRL), the owners of the Shalin Hotel. As per the MoU, RHW will re-name the Shalin Hotel in Ahmedabad as the Radisson Hotel. It will also be taking over the day-to- day management of the hotel for 10 years. EHRL will be paying a franchisee fee of 3 percent of the annual sales and a management fee of 8 percent to RHW. The Shalin Hotel, which has closed its activities from August 1, 1998, will be re- opened in December 1998. (ag)

DCW TO SPIN OFF PVC UNIT INTO SEPARATE JV

Article Abstract:

DCW Ltd of Mumbai has decided to spin off its 60,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) polyvinyl chloride unit (PVC) into a separate joint venture. This is being done to facilitate a tie-up with Mitsui Ltd of Japan. The company is looking at increasing PVC capacity to one lakh tpa in collaboration with Mitsui. Mitsui, which provides vinyl chloride monomer, the main raw material for the DCW plant, has already undertaken a technical evaluation of the PVC unit. DCW currently gets about 50 percent of its turnover from the PVC unit. (khr)

IIM-B SIGNS MoU WITH SISL

Article Abstract:

The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Siemens Information Systems Ltd for cooperation over the next three years on studies related to supply chain management. Siemens will help in setting up a supply chain management centre at the institute. The centre will focus on improving supply chain management for consumer packaged goods, consumer durables and technology devices. (khr)
