EU eases quotas on China trade, breaking logjam

Under a new trade agreement with China, the European Union will admit half of the textile import surplus. The original annual quota was filled within a matter of weeks leaving European ports clogged with excess clothing. The United States is yet to rework their import quotas with China.

EU backs trade chief and rejects France in talks on farm tariffs

The European Union has backed Peter Mandelson in global trade negotiations to open markets in Europe for agricultural products. Mr. Mandelson had earlier proposed cutting tariffs on beef and poultry by 50 percent. France had registered an objection.
