Edwin Weinstein

Article Abstract:

Edwin Weinstein was a physician who studied presidential illnesses. A number of US presidents have been affected by illness in the 20th century, including Franklin Roosevelt and John Kennedy. Woodrow Wilson was US president between 1913 and 1921 and had suffered strokes prior to becoming president. He later suffered a stroke, in 1919, which could have affected his ability to explain the need for an open foreign policy to Congress. Weinstein taught neurology, and studied denial of illness as well as the effectsof illness in political life.
