Enabling inclusion through alternative discursive formations: the regional development of community development loan funds in the United Kingdom

Article Abstract:

Community Development Loan Funds (CDLFs) are alternative financial institutions that usually operate locally to overcome financial exclusion by providing a mechanism that enables wider social inclusion in disadvantaged areas. Two case studies relating to the CDLFs are presented showing the influence of these financial institutions to balance between profitability versus social objectives.
