Endemol IPO would set value at nearly $1.9 billion

ENDEMOL Entertainment Holding N.V. of the Netherlands is planning an initial public offering valued at 1.6 billion Euros ($1.9 billion). Proceeds will go to Telefonica S.A. who own a 5.5 billion Euros stake in the telelvision production company and is planning for eventual full divestment. ENDEMOL Entertainment Holding N.V. specialties include "Big Brother" reality and participation television.

Ahold rings up 70% profit gain as its retail operations improve

Koninklijke Ahold N.V. of the Netherlands posted stellar second quarter net income, up by 70 percent to 214 million Euros ($274.1 million) from 126 million Euros last year. Strong revenues are driven by increased sales at United States and Netherlands stores and reduced costs.

Philips pact expands its lighting business

Dutch firm Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. is purchasing US-based Color Kinetics Inc. to increase its presence in the lighting sector. The deal, valued at $794 mil, offers a 14% premium at $34 per share.
