Eurocopter Romania

Article Abstract:

Eurocopter and IAR Brasov have entered into an agreement to form Eurocopter Romania, as a joint-venture firm to be incorporated under Romania's law. The deal establishes the principles and objectives for the joint venture, which is scheduled to be incorporated by Jul 2001. Initially, Eurocopter Romania is expected to concentrate on developing its manufacturing and support capabilities for the Alouette and Puma families, that include industrial sub-contracting maintenance and overhaul as well as refurbishing and upgrading.

One million hours

Article Abstract:

The German Army has reached its one millionth flying hour with the Bo105 helicopter. The milestone, achieved on May 22, 2000, was celebrated with a ceremony held at the Army Flying School in Buckeburg, Germany. The Army, which began an evaluation of the Bo105 in 1973, started integrating the helicopter into the service in 1979. A total of 100 communication and observation and 212 anti-tank helicopter variations of the Bo105 were delivered from 1979 to 1984.

New Mil joint venture

Article Abstract:

Helion Procopter Industries has been established at a former military airbase in Bitburg, Germany, as an organization that will focus on the worldwide sale of Mil helicopters. The company is the result of a joint venture between German businessman Wolfgang Wibbelt, the Ulan-Ude and Kazan manufacturing facilities in Russia and Mil. Helion's first project is to market the improved Mil Mi-17, a rotorcraft that has received both IAA and FAA certification.
