European PC sales rose 20% in quarter

Article Abstract:

European personal computer sales increased by 20% for the first quarter of 1999. PC sales were helped by the World Wide Web's popularity and alternative sales outlets. European PC sales during the quarter went slightly over seven million units. The majority of the region's year-to-year growth emanated from the Western European consumer sector. PC sales in that sector improved by 61%. Germany, France, and the UK are included in that sector.
