European shares fall, led by airlines, autos

Article Abstract:

European shares were down at the beginning of the third quarter for 2007. Germany's DAX dropped 0.6% to 7,958.24, France's CAC-40 was down 0.5% to 6,026.95, the U.K.'s FTSE 100 fell 0.3% to 6,590.60, and the pan-European Dow Jones Stoxx 600 dropped 0.4% to 392.23. Sectors sensitive to oil prices, particularly air travel and autos, were low performers.

Dividend stocks haven't caught investors' fancy

Article Abstract:

The United States 2003 tax policy on dividends was expected to increase investment. However, this new era in dividend investment is not proving to be the leader as expected. Dividend securities have proven to be a refuge in hard times but not emerging as leaders in times of prosperity, so far.
