Evaluating leases with complex operating options

Article Abstract:

The MDB model introduced by Myers et al. (1976) has been extended to the case of general leasing contracts with several possible interacting operating options. An option-based numerical analysis method is used to extend the model. Contingent Claims Analysis is proposed as the best methodology for valuating operating lease options. Leasing is shown to normally involve complex options.
