Evaluating attack helicopters by AHP based on linguistic variable weight

Article Abstract:

The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) may be applied in evaluating weapon systems, such as those in attack helicopters. The AHP possesses intuitive qualities when based on a linguistic variable weight. Such a method emulates the fuzziness of human language expression. Weapon evaluations provide information on the performance quality of the weapon systems and their cost-effectiveness. The evaluations, however, are affected by political support given to certain scientific and technological ideas. The AHP method allows decision-making independent of a myriad of underlying influences.

A review of major paradigms and models for the design of civil engineering systems

Article Abstract:

The evolution of the design procedure for civil engineering systems was reviewed and five key paradigmatic models were recognized. These are the empirical model, the static descriptive deterministic model, the static stochastic descriptive model, the dynamic stochastic descriptive model, and the single criterium optimization. Developments and challenges indicate another approach, which was described by the interactive multi-attribute learning paradigm.
