Evaluation for transport policies and programmes - in integrated land-use/transport planning

Article Abstract:

The UK government issued Planning Policy Guidance (PPG) Note 12 in Feb 1992 confirming its plan to intergrate transport and planning policies. Integrating the Transport Policies and Programmes (TPPs) of local high authorities with development plan policies and transportation policies would allow local authorities to present a transport package which would include all roads in their area, including those for which the Department of Transport is responsible, and would also take into account how land was used and developed.

Planning for social limits to growth

Article Abstract:

2000 households in both rural and urban areas of Buckinghamshire were surveyed as part of the structure plan for the county in 1991. The survey found high levels of mobility in the villages, mostly for work reasons. Residents also wanted better public transport and more affordable housing. Town dwellers would have liked more public open space, health and housing provision.
