FAA initiates datalink

Article Abstract:

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched the Raytheon- developed two-way datalink in May 2000. The oceanic datalink provides electronic air/ground communication services between controllers and aircrafts flying over the Atlantic Ocean. The system can be used to facilitate requests for changes in route or altitude, potential conflict checks and automatic transmission of information from the aircraft flight management system. Ultimately, FAA's datalink has been designed to replace voice communications between controllers and pilots to improve timeliness and reliability of message delivery.

A whole lot of suing goin' on

Article Abstract:

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum sued Charles Gentile when he began selling a poster featuring a sunset photograph of the museum, which he took. The Cleveland, OH-based museum sued Gentile, a professional photographer, for trademark infringement for its building design. The museum argued that the public might be misled that it produced or sponsored the poster. The case raises the question if a building can be used as a trademark, such as in the Coca-Cola bottle. In the museum's case, there is no indication that the building serves as a trademark.
