FIIs LOWER HOLDINGS IN COMPANIES

Article Abstract:

The holdings of foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in private sector firms including Carrier Aircon, Digital Equipment (India), Wartsila Diesel India, Elgi Equipment, Max India and Patheja Forgings have come down to below 24 percent level. In Zee Telefilms FIIs investment's ceiling has been increased to 30 percent. FIIs' investment in HDFC has remained the same. Their holdings in Satyam Computers and Mastek stand at 28 percent. FIIs holding in public sector banks including State Bank of India has come down to below 18 percent. (gs)

FIIs GET MORE GOODIES, CAN PLAY TAKEOVER GAME IN INDIA

Article Abstract:

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has permitted foreign institutional investors (FIIs) to directly participate in takeovers. FIIs can sell shares to an acquirer in a takeover. Earlier FIIs were permitted to enter the secondary market only through SEBI registered brokers. FIIs have been allowed to buy and sell derivative contracts traded on stock exchanges. They can invest in unlisted debt securities. SEBI has eased regulations permitting FIIs to open sub-accounts more easily. (vv)

RPG OFFLOADS BAYER INDIA STAKE TO FIIs

Article Abstract:

The RP Goenka group has divested its entire 7.4 percent stake in Bayer India Ltd (BIL) to a group of foreign institutional investors for around Rs20 crore. The decision forms part of its plan to exit from non-core areas. BIL is involved in agrochemicals, rubber chemicals and pharmaceuticals sectors. (gs)
