DENMARK: CODAN RESULT LOW IN THIRD QUARTER?

Article Abstract:

Danish insurance company Codan does not issue interim reports, but according to its parent company Royal & Sun Alliance, the Scandinavian insurance market has seen a tremendous increase in burning costs. Royal & Sun's report says the result has declined during the third quarter. Due to ethical rules of the Danish Stock Exchange, Codan MD Jens Erik Christensen can only say that the numbers in the report represent a Nordic situation not entirely identical to Codan. The paper estimates that Codan's technical result for 1999 may be around DKr 100 million (US$ 14.3 mn) less than in 1998.
