FRANCE: CARREFOUR RENOVATION IN SOUTH-EAST

In 1999 Carrefour, the French retail group, is going to spend FFr 400mn, out of a total of FFr 11bn earmarked for renovation, on renovating its stores located in the south-east of France. This region has 20 Carrefour hypermarkets, and 13 in partnership with Guyenne et Gascogne and with Coop Atlantique. All of these stores will be renovated and will adopt the organisation of departments by category by the year 2002.

On 14 October 1998, Carrefour, the French retail group, opened its first hypermarket in Indonesia in the north-east suburb of Djakarta. It has 7,500 square metres of sales space. Carrefour is going to open its first units in Colombia and in Chile, at Santiago, and it is going to open its first unit in the Czech Republic in November 1998.

FRANCE: GEANT ADOPTS ROLIBAG
Article Abstract:
Rolibag, the four-bag individual and foldable shopping cart, has been adopted by over a hundred Geant stores. The Geant store at Rennes has tested the Rolibag for several months. Rolibag now comes in a smaller two-bag version.
