FRANCE: FRANCAP'S LOCAL SHOP NETWORK

Article Abstract:

Francap's local shop network, operated by 13 regional companies, consists of 376 Coccinelle stores and 228 Coccimarket stores, which total a retail turnover of nearly FFr 5.6bn. Although Francap wants national level consistency for its two local shop retail chains, the purchasing group leaves the regional companies room for local initiatives. For example, the Mistral company in the Vaucluse invested an amount averaging FFr 800,000 for 450 square metres of sales space, in order to improve the circulation plans and equipment in the stores which it operates. This move boosted sales 10% over its total operations, and 20% in chilled products alone.
