FRANCE: GPRS LAUNCH AND NEW RANGE FOR PHILIPS

Article Abstract:

Philips will be launching a the first of a new series of mobile phones in May 2001, with the arrival of its 300 series, Fisio. It will begin with the launch of Fisio 310 (voice), and Fisio 311 (WAP), which will be released the same time as the Azalis 288 (agenda, data output), to join the current model, Azalis 268. Philips will also launch its first GPRS standard mobile phones in this new range. The first will be the Fisio 610, destined for the tech-enabled, available around September 2001, while the Fisio 318 GPRS phone will be launched by the end of the year. The 300 series all feature exceptional battery autonomies of up to 400 hours on standby, as well as larger display screens.

FRANCE: FRANCE TELECOM TESTING ITIACHAT SERVICE

Article Abstract:

France Telecom has been testing ItiAchat, a secure mobile sales service, since 26 July 1999. The ItiAchat mobile telephone is equipped with a smart bank card reader, and functions like a real secure, universal payment terminal. With ItiAchat, people can order products or service by telephone or Internet and pay by mobile telephone. A new test will be launched on 20 September 1999. ItiAchat is scheduled to go on sale at the beginning of the year 2000.

FRANCE: LAUNCH OF MONTCALM

Article Abstract:

The Societe des Eaux Minerales de Saint Amand has introduced Montcalm, a water with a very low mineral content of 28.4mg per litre, for babies. The recommended retail price is FFr 1.95 for a one-litre polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle.
