FTC poised to postpone ruling on Boeing, Lockheed venture

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp. both of the United States are considering a joint venture of their rocket programs. The proposed agreement would prevent financial losses, potentially saving the government $150 million per year with the combining of the aerospace giants' satellite launching services. The United States Federal Trade Commission is currently considering the proposal for anti-trust violations.

Asia crisis propmpts Boeing to slash output, cut jobs

Article Abstract:

As a result of the ongoing economic crisis in Asia, Boeing Co. has proclaimed production cutbacks and employee layoffs. With no profits visible in the near future, the company is resorting to an agressive strategy that includes up to 20,000 layoffs by the year 2000. Boeing has also decided to limit production of the aircraft most favored in the Asian market until economic conditions improve.

Boeing to settle federal probes for $615 million

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co. of the United States has agreed to a pay out settlement of $615 million to the United States Department of Justice in an investigation of contract improprieties. The settlement is the largest of any military contractor accused of high-profile scandal.
