Fannie Mae overseer to present report criticizing accounting: probe points to decisions to smooth out earnings, possibly increase bonuses

Federal regulators will present a report which criticizes the accounting practices at Fannie Mae. They found evidence of decisions made by company executives which were taken with a view toward manipulating earnings to present a more consistent performance.
