Fidelity National to buy Chicago Title

Article Abstract:

Fidelity National Financial Inc. has reached an agreement to purchase Chicago Title Corp. for $1.2 billion (1.1 billion euros). The deal involves shares and cash. The deal also creates the largest title-insurance firm in the US. Fidelity National agreed to pay $52 per share to Chicago Title, its larger competitor. The deal represents the largest in the consolidation of the title insurance industry.

Crackdown puts corporations, executives in new legal peril

United States Securities and Exchange Commission have cracked down on American corporations and fraud post-Enron. The Commission has regulated deferred-prosecution agreements, the company is charged with criminal behavior but puts reform measures in place and on a certain date the potential charges are dropped.

Northrop's net income rises 13%, as U.S. defense spending climbs
