Kellogg to buy Keebler in bid to lessen reliance on cereals

Fight for United Biscuits grows after bid by Danone-led group

Article Abstract:

United Biscuits PLC, the number one cookie company in the United Kingdom, is the focus of an intense bidding war between American and European groups. The Franco-British group led by the food company Danone S.A. is the latest to raise their bid for the company causing increased friction and further negotiations. The bidding war has been good for United Biscuits' shareholders, however, with the share price rising 3.7% in two months.
