First Pacific stirs optimism: analysts turn sanguine on the Hong Kong assets of a Suharto ally

Article Abstract:

The shares of First Pacific Co of Hong Kong, owned by one of Indonesian President Suharto's closest allies named Liem Sioe Liong, have regained confidence. Local fund sales are brisk

Article Abstract:

Fund management industry officials in Malaysia say sales of unit trusts to people transmitting money from their retirement accounts at the compulsory Employees' Provident Fund are relatively swift, particularly for fund firms that are able to deploy large sales forces. The brisk sales comes at a time when it is difficult to be asking retail investors to purchase unit trusts amid the Asian financial crisis.
