Five on the fast track

Article Abstract:

The main categories of entrepreneurship in the UK are clearly demonstrated by ROC Recruitment, Aculab, A-Gas, Taran Microsystems and Yardbrace. ROC Recruitment can be regarded as a wave rider, exploiting opportunities in a high-growth sector, while Aculab can be seen as a better mousetrapper, offering better products than established players. A-Gas is a creative channeller, creating new channels to establish links with customers, while Taran Microsystems is a finance innovator, using creative financing techniques to establish a business, and Yardbrace is a process primer, using innovative processes to reach customers.

Targeting the hiring squad

Article Abstract:

There have been a considerable number of mergers and acquisitions among recruitment agencies in the UK recently. The industry, which is split into permanent placement and temporary placement services, currently achieves ales of around 7 billion pounds sterling a year. The temporary recruitment sector has become stronger during recent years, as many companies have been forced by the recession to use temporary or contract staff. Recent mergers and acquisitions have generally either been in the form of moves to consolidate market position or of a management buy-out or buy-in.
