Foolish love

Article Abstract:

There is still strong support for President Bill Clinton among ordinary Americans, even though they acknowledge that he has been guilty of lying. Democrats still admit that Clinton's wrong-doings cannot be defended, but do not see him as a political liability. They are also aware that continuing to support Clinton reflects the public mood. Clinton still has a remarkable ability to connect with ordinary people, and his critics are therefore made to appear sanctimonious and moralistic. However, it can be argued that there is no real reason why Clinton should remain in power if he is so ordinary and is unwilling to live up to the duties and dignity of his position.

In Houdini's footsteps

Article Abstract:

It is possible that President Bill Clinton may survive the Monica Lewinsky scandal simply because many people will find it very demeaning and will want it forgotten as soon as possible. It is also possible that Americans will be prepared to excuse Clinton if he is found to have been dishonest about his relationship with Lewinsky. This may not be the case if Clinton chooses to ignore evidence that proves that had sexual relations with Lewinsky. He may be able to gain forgiveness for lying about sex, but he must still face up to other charges.

In love with regulation

Article Abstract:

Regulation abounds in the US, despite its reputation as the land of liberty. All aspects of American life seem to regulated, despite efforts by every president since Richard Nixon to cut regulation. In reality, Americans may not want to cut regulations, which they feel in some ways, protects their individualism.
