For buyout firms, West meets Mideast

UK investment firm Apax Partners Worldwide L.L.P. and US investment bank The Blackstone Group are negotiating the purchase of a stake in Weather Investments S.p.A., a telecommunications holding company. Naguib Sawiris, an Egyptian billionaire, controls Weather Investments. The deal value is estimated at $1.7 bil.

Vivendi in talks for stake in Dubai's Oger Telecom

French mass media firm Vivendi S.A. is negotiating for a 25% to 35% stake in Oger Telecom, a unit of Saudi Arabian conglomerate Saudi Oger Ltd. The deal would be valued at around $2 bil to $3 bil. and would make Vivendi a strategic partner in the firm.

DoCoMo benefits from low fee for coming offer

NTT DoCoMo Inc. is expected to set a price of approximately $8.59 billion (9.2 billion euros) for its global share offering. The firm is said to benefit from the low fees it secured for the offering.
