USN integrated ECM makes progress

Article Abstract:

Sanders/ITT Industries' AN/ALQ-214 radio-frequency countermeasures system (RFCM), which forms part of the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures system, is set to undergo a complete operational assessment by the US Navy. The RFCM being tested is comprised of an on- board receiver/modulator/processor, a techniques generator and a wideband repeater. If operational tests are found successful, Sanders/ITT Industries will began low-rate initial production of RFCM in Nov 2000.

Forces join on NV goggles program

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force Research Laboratory plans to award a contract on May 2000 for an advanced technology demonstration (ATD) of an Integrated Panoramic Night Vision Goggle. The ATD will be co-sponsored by the US Army Communications-Electronics Command's Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate. The program aims to develop a single design that will meet the requirements of both the air and ground forces, with the main objective of enhancing the instantaneous field of view.

US looks to the future of GPS

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co and Lockheed Martin Space Systems have received contracts valued at $16 million from the US Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center. The contracts cover 12-month system architecture and requirements definition studies of the next-generation Global Positioning System III project. The two companies will survey latest technologies and enhance system architecture. The Air Force will then undertake a further competition before awarding two follow-on contracts for 26 months of program definition and risk reduction.
