French mirage

Article Abstract:

The French have a reputation for being fun-loving people that do not work hard and that ignore the rules. People from other cultures having contact with the French in business affairs are often disconcerted by these manifestations of the French national character. Unfamiliarity with national character by both the French and foreigners can be a source of misunderstanding that can ruin business relationships. Business people should realize that people from different cultures are different and should view those differences as qualities that enhance business and professional relationships.

Earnings gap between French and English has closed

Article Abstract:

Although in 1970 French Canadians averaged 10 to 11 percent lower annual earnings than English Canadians, the two groups had roughly equivalent incomes by 1980. Bilingual men were also 1980's highest earnings group in Canada. In Canada, salary differences are not as visible along language groups as they are along native - non-native and male - female lines.

Programme innovations and networks of French public theatres

Article Abstract:

The programme structure in the network of French public theatres shows that there exists a loose link between the status and choice of playwrights and directors. However, in France the managers of 'scenes nationales' had a preference for lively plays and managers-cum directors were interested in classical plays.
