New 20-tonne 8x8 from Rheinmetall

Article Abstract:

Rheinmetall Land Systems is expected to start the construction of a prototype 8x8 vehicle, called new armored wheeled vehicle (NAWV), in 2001. The NAWV will be designed amphibious and C-130 transportable, with a maximum width of 2.72 meters, a length of 7.1 meters, and height of 2.838 meters. Its propulsive power will be provided by a 325kW direct-drive diesel engine, giving a power/weight ratio of 16.3kW/ton, a maxiumum speed of 100 km/h, and a road range of 800 km.

Wiesel 2

Article Abstract:

The Wiesel 2 multipurpose tracked carrier from Rheinmetall Landsysteme features an extra roadwheel station on either side of the hull and a more powerful engine. The German Army is using the Wiesel 2 as the platform for the STN Atlas Elektronik Short-Range Air-Defense System, which has four Stinger surface-to-air missiles in the ready-to-launch position. Power is provided by a Audi TDI four-cylinder diesel engine coupled to a ZF automatic transmission.
