Fund investors are losing their taste for Vietnam

Article Abstract:

Fund investors are shying away from Vietnam due to lack of active market and room for development. Investors simply lost their interest in doing fund managing business in Vietnam, despite the discounts to net asset value per share. Funds are standing idle, waiting for new projects and investments to emerge. However, once the funds are invested, fund managers encounter the difficulty of liquidating the funds back to cash. Low turnover and bad results also prompted fund managers to divert their investments from the country.

Jardine Fleming fund limits losses for investors, but returns may be lower

Article Abstract:

Jardine Fleming Trusts Ltd.'s Jardine Fleming Capital Guaranteed MasterSeries is a new mutual fund that limits an investor's losses to only 2.5% per quarter. Launched in Jan. 1996, the product averages the highs and lows of its underlying markets to ensure that large market drops are not reflected in the returns. Unfortunately, sharp market climbs are also averaged out so returns will be limited. The product is designed for relatively cautious investors and those who do not want to lose any money.
