Furniture and furnishings in the Netherlands

Article Abstract:

Production of wooden furniture in the Netherlands amounted to Fl 1.95 billion in 1995, up 5% from 1994. Output of metal furniture rose by 9% to Fl 1.03 billion. The household furniture market is estimated to have fallen by 2% in 1995 to Fl 6.3 billion. Carpet production for the year totalled Fl 2.10 billion, up 11% from 1994. Total consumer spending on curtaining materials, curtains and blinds reached Fl 1.3 billion in 1995. An analysis of the furniture and home furnishings market in the Netherlands is presented.

Furniture and furnishings in the Netherlands

The markets for furniture and furnishings in the Netherlands are expected to grow by 2-3% in 1996. In 1994, the Dutch furniture output was valued at 3,627.3 million Gilder (G), with a total industry turnover of G3.96 billion. An overview of the Dutch furniture and furnishings markets is provided, including details of market features, foreign trade, consumption and forecasts for the future.
