GAUTIER INDIA TO LAUNCH FURNITURE FOR ENTERTAINMENT
Article Abstract:
Gautier India Ltd is a 50:50 joint venture between Groupe Seribo of France and Zuari Industries Ltd. It will launch a series of furniture exclusively for entertainment - music systems, video and home theatres - priced between Rs3,000 to Rs15,000. The Rs60- crore furniture plant is located near Chennai and the company has added the Midas brand of computer furniture to the office and bedroom furniture ranges. The company has posted sales of Rs1.5 crore per month with export orders worth Rs3 crore fulfilled. The exports are mainly to France, Sri Lanka, Qatar and Oman. The company has export orders worth Rs5 crore in the pipeline and expects a turnover of Rs30 crore for 1998-99. Production capacity is also being enhanced. (nr)

Gautier India Limited (GIL) has launched the Rhapsodie range of bedroom furniture. The range includes a variety of beds, wardrobes, drawers, a pair of bedside tables, mirrors, TV unit, TV table on castors and an armchair with a cherry finish. The range will cost Rs7,900-42,000. It is collaborating with Groupe Seribo of France for the production and marketing of the Gautier range of office and bedroom furniture. (ag)

Groupe Seribo of France plans to acquire 50 percent stake in Gautier India Ltd (GIL). GIL is the marketing division of Indian Furniture Products, a division of Zuari Industries Ltd (ZIL). Groupe Seribo and ZIL are jointly setting up a Rs60 crore ready- to-assemble furniture plant at Kakkalur near Chennai. Groupe Seribo has already subscribed to Rs10 crore of the Rs16 crore authorised equity capital of GIL. (gsh)
