GDF urges a resolution of merger deal with Suez: France vows decision by end of September; profit decline posted

State-run Gaz de France is urging Belgian-French gas utility Suez S.A. to come to an agreement regarding the two firms' planned merger. Meanwhile, first-half net profit for Gaz de France declined 11% due to lower prices and demand.

Kia auction is canceled as bidders are averse to assume firm's debt

Kia Motors Corp.'s international auction was terminated as bidders raised concerns about assuming all of the company's debts. The reluctance of the bidders put the future of Kia Motors in doubt. The company is the third-largest manufacturers of cars in South Korea. Lee Jong Dae, the president of Kia, said that none of the offers met all the criteria established by creditors.
