L&T SEES NEW THRUST AREAS

Article Abstract:

The chemical plants and systems projects division of Larsen & Toubro has identified thermal systems, cryogenic storage systems and industrial gas plants as the new thrust areas for a greater business focus. The Rs250 crore chemicals division is a part of the company's engineering, procurement and construction wing. The company has projected that the export market will increase its thermal systems business. It got an order to manufacture a primary reformer and waste heat recovery package for an ammonia synthesis gas plant in Malaysia in April 1998. (khr)

L&T TO GO IN FOR MAJOR REVAMP

Article Abstract:

Larsen & Toubro has decided to undertake an extensive organisational restructuring as a result of global competition and its increased focus on the engineering procurement and construction business. The company is likely to set up new divisions that will cater to sector-wise project management. It has set up several taskforces who will prepare sales and profit projections for each division in the year 2010. The restructuring process is scheduled to be completed in six to eight months.
