GKN says it is considering merging defense-vehicles business with Alvis

Article Abstract:

GKN PLC is thinking of merging its defense-vehicle business with Alvis PLC. The merger will create a stronger player in the light armored vehicle market, said analyst Daniel Bevan of Credit Lyonnais Securities. The move will also position the companies ahead of other defense companies in the race to consolidate towards the anticipated creation of a single, pan-European group, said Bevan. One defense player that will be left behind is Vickers PLC, which needs to become a player in the light-vehicles segment of the market, added Bevan.
