GM posts big loss, pulls forecast

Article Abstract:

General Motors Corp. of the United States posts first quarter net income loss of $1.1 billion and has pulled the yearly financial forecast. Sales in both North America and China have cooled with the North America market share dropping to 25.2 percent during the 1st quarter, from 26. 3 percent a year earlier. Revenue per vehicle dropped by 4 percent or $688.

GM to invest in green technology in China: move shows how important nation is to the auto industry

General Motors Corp. is building a $250 mil complex in Shanghai, China, at which the company will collaborate with the Chinese government, academic institutions, and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., one of its China-based partners, in developing green technologies. These would include alternative fuels, electric vehicles, and gasoline-hybrid cars.

General Motors joins rush to make hybrids in China

General Motors Corp. of the United States in joint venture with Saic Motor Corp. of China is to introduce gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles for the Chinese market by 2008. Hybrid automobiles are hot, with the high price of petroleum they lower gas consumption and reduce harmful emissions.
