Article Abstract:

The government has decided to permit 74 percent foreign direct investment (FDI)in advertising and 100 percent FDI in films through the automatic route. This decision will have a significant impact on the film industry as many major foreign players like 20th Century Fox, Tombstone Pictures, Sony Pictures and Time Warner are interested in entering the Indian market. The entry of foreign companies will lead to setting up international quality studios. (khr)

NO AUTOMATIC APPROVALS FOR FDIs IN HOUSING

Article Abstract:

The Indian government has approved of 100 percent foreign direct investments (FDIs) in the housing sector but proposals will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. Permission had earlier been given for automatic approval for FDIs in the housing sector but it has been realised that the sector is too sensitive to permit automatic FDIs without proper screening.
