MADRAS CEMENTS LTD's TURNOVER, NET UP

Article Abstract:

Madras Cements Ltd (MCL) has posted a 9.8 percent rise in its sales during April-September 1998. During the period, it also posted a rise in the sales volume to 22.50 lakh tonnes (10.56 lakh tonnes during April-September 1997). MCL also posted a 12.8 percent rise in the production to 12.42 lakh tonnes (11.01 lakh tonnes). MCL has attributed its performance to its efforts to raise the sales and cut down the power and transportation costs. The improved performance is also attributed to higher profits. (ag)

MYSORE CEMENTS' Q2 LOSS HIGHER

Mysore Cements Ltd has registered a loss of Rs18.26 crore in the second quarter ended December 31, 1998 against Rs17.4 crore in the second quarter ended December 31, 1997. The company posted a net sales of Rs71.72 crore against Rs66.49 crore. It registered a net loss of Rs35.75 crore on net sales of Rs142.40 crore in the six months ended December 31, 1998. (khr)
